Considered another mystery of Easter Island, Rongorongo is the name of the manuscript written in hieroglyphs written by the first inhabitants of the island. Rongorongo mysteriously appeared in the 1700s while the inhabitants of the neighboring islands had no written script. European colonization banned the language because of the pagan origins of the islanders.
